The Persian Empire engulfed and eventually eclipsed mighty Babylon. Stretching from Egypt to Afghanistan, Persia was the link between Asia and Europe.


Persian philosophy exercised a profound a profound effect on the development of Judeo-Christian and Islamic thought. Famed for its wealthy and military might, Persia was the only state strong enough to stand against the  might of Rome for hundreds of years.
