Emerging Topics - Pilot Seminar – Brighton
This small-cohort seminar is part of Teacher Connect’s ongoing exploration of how educators respond to emerging and contested topics within the classroom.
The session will present findings from recent UK research involving over 300 educational institutions that explores how teachers navigate situations where knowledge is evolving, guidance is limited, and students are already asking questions.
As part of the initial Foundational Cohort, participants will contribute to early professional dialogue that will help shape the future development of Teacher Connect seminars and ongoing research.
The seminar creates a space for PSHE and Science educators to come together to explore how different subject perspectives approach uncertainty, evidence, and student responses — and how these can align to support more confident and consistent practice.
Participants will take part in structured discussions designed to reflect on the research and consider practical implications for classroom delivery, professional boundaries, and responding to student-led enquiry.
This is a professional, exploratory seminar rather than an advocacy event, providing a calm and structured environment in which complex topics can be examined with clarity and confidence.
We encourage paired attendance where possible, particularly:
PSHE and Science
Curriculum and pastoral leads
A reduced rate is available for colleagues attending together to support cross-disciplinary dialogue.
