Johnny Condom Education Video
Despite its comic title, the Johnny Condom PSHE resource has become a landmark in sexual health and contributed to a positive change in education. Used by over 4500 UK schools and seen by over a million young people this resource is a genuine asset to your PSHE lesson. Whilst elements of the resource are now dated, when used in conjunction with current awareness strategies, it is the humour that wins through every time making its approach to sexual health universally current and relevant.
Johnny Condom uses humour, rather than scare tactics to convey relationship and sexual health information vital to young people.
But do not be misled by its comic title, this resource is serious and encourages educators and young people alike to tune into their emotions which we believe is core as we explore sexual health and relationship matters including:
-
Positive Relationships
-
Peer pressure
-
Teenage pregnancy
-
S.T.I.s
-
HIV and Aids
-
Pornography
-
Alcohol
-
Informed decision-making
-
Independent research
This is a complete resource that supports both the educator and the learner’s opportunity for development, never before has a resource been so adaptable to your requirements.
This is a later version of the education video and does not include the original celebrity videos that at the time were more relevant, however, for those of you who want to take a trip down memory lane, here are a selection of some of the amazing people involved in the very first promotion way back in 1996.
Individual Sessions
The Johnny Condom Education Video was designed to either work as an individual lesson along with the supplied lesson plans, or to integrate into a scheme of work over several sessions. To facilitate this, we split each part of the video elements into their individual segments to allow lessons on a specific subject.
We have always recommended that the education video should not be used on its own without the follow up resource being used. If the education video is used in isolation without follow up exercises, then the humour that is its strength becomes its weakness and trivialises the subject it is trying to support.
